Towards Spatial Data Infrastructures in the Clouds
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cloud Computing is one of the latest hypes in the mainstream IT world. In this context, Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) have not been considered yet. This paper reviews this novel technology and identifies the paradigm behind it with regard to SDIs. Concepts of SDIs are analyzed in respect to common gaps which can be solved by Cloud Computing technologies. A real world use case will be presented, which benefits largely from Cloud Computing as a proof-of-concept demonstration. This use case shows that SDI components can be integrated into the cloud as value-added services. Thereby SDI components are shifted from a Software as a Service cloud layer to the Platform as a Service cloud layer, which can be regarded as a future direction for SDIs to enable geospatial cloud interoperability.

acquisition field reference data using conventional methods due to limited and time-consuming data from a single tree in recent years, to generate reference data for forest studies using terrestrial laser scanner data, aerial laser scanner data, radar and Optics has become commonplace, and complete, accurate 3D data from a single tree or reference trees can be recorded. The detection and identi...

Introduction: Patterns of spatial and temporal rainfall impact on runoff and outlet hydrograph (Cordery, 1993; James, 1994). Results of different studies have clarified that simulation by using diverse rainfall data could increase the reliance of results. These were much more sensible in which areas encounter with data scarcity (Mello et al., 2008; Bekiaris et al., 2008). Rainfall properties in...
متن کاملTabriz Intra-urban Spatial Disparities
To achieve sustainable urban development and values from social justice; it is essential that all citizens enjoy resources, facilities and life opportunities equally. Due to lack of a stable or systematic approach of measuring urban problems, disparity in environmental conditions or access to social and physical infrastructures is more obvious, especially in the cities of developing countries. ...
متن کاملFrom the Assessment of Spatial Data Infrastructure To the Assessment of Community of Practice: Advocating an Approach by Uses
Spatial data sharing mechanisms are an important asset to territorial communities. They help them understand and control their long term development. In this perspective, this paper suggests a novel approach of geodata appropriation processes based on diverse socio-cognitive theories. This approach suggests that the evolution of spatial data infrastructures from rough data exchange platforms to...
